The journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic honesty. All authors are expected to carefully adhere to global academic ethics, especially regarding proper attribution and citation practices.

Definition and Scope of Plagiarism

Plagiarism occurs when an author uses ideas, information, or wording from another source without appropriate credit. Even when unintentional, plagiarism is a serious violation of academic ethics and is unacceptable in scholarly publications.

Examples include:

  • Using specific information (e.g., names, dates, statistics, or geographic references) from a source without citation.

    • Exception: No citation is needed for common knowledge, i.e., information available in five or more general sources or widely known facts (e.g., "Indonesia is the most populous Muslim-majority country in the world").

  • Using an idea from another scholar—such as an analytical perspective, methodology, or conceptual interpretation—requires proper citation, even if the author elaborates or modifies the idea.

  • Using exact words or phrases from a source (four or more consecutive words) must be:

    • Cited, and

    • Placed in quotation marks
A citation alone is not sufficient when using another author's exact words.

Policy Enforcement

Gifted: Journal of Early Childhood Education takes all cases of plagiarism seriously. The editorial team reserves the right to:

  • Reject submitted manuscripts containing plagiarized material

  • Withdraw acceptance of manuscripts found to violate these standards, even after initial approval
